Pirate Coins are a consumable item which drop with a 10% chance from Pirate Parrots.
Use
Right clicking a pirate coin will flip it, and it can land on either heads (50%) or tails (50%). A heads is considered a "win". Getting 5 heads in a row unlocks a book (See Grand Archive Gambling Addiction). Flipping a coin also has a 2% chance to give you a Lucky Clover Ring.
